MTV Liverpool Music Week 2008
Deadline: Sep 10, 2008 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time
Liverpool Music Week is the UK's fastest growing new-music festival, expecting to attract 60,000 gig-goers over the 8-day festival this year. Liverpool Music Week has grown from a single venue in 2003 to a burgeoning annual event, featuring 270 artists and taking place at 16 venues across city-centre in 2007. With MTV on board as the title sponsor in 2008 and with the MTV Europe Awards taking place in Liverpool during the event, LMW will further cement it's position as the largest live new-music winter festival in the UK.
This year, confirmed artists include Vampire Weekend, Goldfrapp, Black Kids, Ladyhawke, Dizzee Rascal, The Wombats, Noah & the Whale and Golden Silvers. At least 5 Sonicbids artists will be selected to perform alongside these and other great artists.
Since its creation, LMW has played host to over 600 acts from all over the world including The Chemical Brothers, Ian McCulloch, Seu Jorge, The Kooks, The La's, Pop Levi, Lightspeed Champion, Kaiser Chiefs, Art Brut, 1990s, Madness, Hard Fi, New Young Pony Club, Pendulum, Good Shoes, Clinic, James Yorkston, Friendly Fires, and many more.
Locations and participating Venues include: Bumper, Carling Academy, Liverpool University, Philharmonic Hall, Korova Bar, Zanzibar Club, Nation, Barfly, The Magnet, St George's Hall, Hannah's Bar, Metropolitan, 33-45 Parr Street, Parr Street Studios, FACT, Bar Fresa and Cotton Club.
Artists who submit should be fresh and progressive whilst still being contemporary or alternative. There is no pay offered to selected artists.
