Freebass, the bassist-friendly group formed by New Order bassist Peter Hook and The Stone Roses and Primal Scream bassist Mani with The Smiths’ bassist Andy Rourke has finally added a singer.
Gary Briggs, formerly of Cornish-by-Manchester band Haven will lend his chops to the supergroup trio.

Freebass formed in 2004 when both Hook's and Mani's, according to Hook, were "stalled." However, both Hook's New Order went back to the studio to record 2005's Waiting for the Sirens' Call, while Primal Scream went on tour to promote their 2006 release Riot City Blues.

“We have had trouble getting it together," Hook told the BBC , "and I have had a lot of trouble finding a vocalist and we now have another one. This is about our 15th one.”

Other guest vocalist working on the album include Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, Stone Roses' Ian Brown, Happy Mondays’ Rowetta, The Charlatans' Tim Burgess and Oasis' Liam Gallagher.
