Is Dance an Olympic Event?

You might wish it were, listening to this compilation. If the three tracks I've heard are any indication, this is what the clubs will be pumping at the many after-parties sure to be happening every night of the Beijing games. That is, if the authorities aren't put out by the compilation's subtitle: A Tribute to Human Rights.

This collection brings together 24 anthems by 24 amazing artists from 24 different countries to support their national teams at the Olympic summer games in Beijing. I can honestly and humbly state that I'm not familiar with most of the artists, so here's a description straight from the album's (punctuation-challenged) promo material:

[T]he original Olympic idea (“not to win but to take part”) is inseparably linked to the respect of the human rights. Be it in the sports stadium or on the dancefloor. This ideal is emphasized by the Austrian duo Makossa & Megablast who decided to start for Tibet (instead of their home country) with a Mantra spoken by Konchok Yoenten: Düsum Sangye (The Prayer to Guru Rinpoche for Removing Obstacles and Fulwilling Wishes: Guru Rinpoche, the Buddha of past, present and future. "Dewa Chenpo" - Guru of Great Bliss-the source of all the Siddhis. "Düd Dül Drakpo Tsal" - Wrathful One that subdues Negativity - who removes all obstacles. Grant your blessings we pray! Through them, may all obstacles-outer, inner and secret- be quelled, and may all our aspirations be fulfilled. Namaste!
