Who The Hell is Sam Buck Rosen and why is he opening for Vampire Weekend?

Have you noticed this guy named Sam Buck Rosen is opening for Vampire Weekend on a couple bunches of dates when the VW tour starts next week? Yeah, so did I. If that ain't a cool break then I don't know what is. Almost as good as opening for Styx on the reunion tour. Hey, I like Styx.

So who is this guy? Well, for starters, don't confuse him with this Sam Rosen.

Here's Sam in how own words: "LAST OCTOBER I RELEASED MY FIRST ALBUM "THE LOOK SOUTH" ON MY LABEL CLASS ACT; METICULOUS AND HEAVY KIND OF COUNTRY-FOLK SONGS AS SHORT STORY NARRATIVES. BIG ARRANGEMENTS FOR LOVERS OF BIG ORCHESTRAL POP MUSIC, RECORDED AND PERFORMED AT MY PARENTS HOUSE IN NEWBURYPORT MA, MOSTLY ALONE OR IN THE COMPANY OF JULIET NELSON, CO-LEAD. THERE WERE SOME GREAT CONTRIBUTIONS ADDED BY MY ORIGINAL BAND SOUTH AMERICA THOUGH WITH THE OCCASIONAL NAT BALDWIN ON UPRIGHT BASS, JASON ANDERSON ON DRUMS AND CASEY DIENEL ON PIANO AND VOCALS.OVER THE WINTER I WROTE AND RECORDED "GET THE MOTION" , MY FIRST DANCE RECORD AT MY NEW HOME IN BROOKLYN. WE'LL RELEASE IT ON MY NEW LABEL TRUTHTONE IN SUMMER 2007. DIRTY R&B MUSIC FOR LOVERS OF REGGAE. HEAVY CONCUSSIVE BEATS FOR LOVERS OF SHERYL CROW, A DANCE REVIVAL FOR LOVERS OF FURTADO. IT COULD BE YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE IF THATS WHAT YOU WANT IT TO BE"

Sam's got a hearty, husky entertainer's voice - sort of like Morrissey or that guy from Human League or maybe it's that guy who sings for Depeche Mode - and there's some cool beats you sure can groove to. He also needs to learn how to type write in lower case.

Here's more about Sam and his label, Truth Tone Records, and if you like these couple of songs make sure you go a little early to see Vampire Weekend and check out Sam opening the show. I think he's a fan of Tom Waits, Gillian Welch, Joss Stone and all those classic Trojan reggae sides. He's got good musical taste.
