Downtown Music Productions, Mimi Stern-Wolfe, Artistic Director, presents a special Flowers That Bloom in the Spring, Tra-La! concert on Sunday, May 18 at 3:00 PM as part of their East Village Concert Series at St. Mark’s Church in the Bowery, 131 E. 10th Street at 2nd Avenue in Manhattan.
Featured works include the World Premiere of Elodie Lauten’s Five-Petal Proportion, performed by Andrew Bolotowsky,flute and Emo Manolov, violin, with recorded tape. Sam Gale’s Magnolia Rag, Frank Russo’s Spring from Five Seasons for chamber ensemble and Nicholas Scarim’s The Garden at Night for wind quintet and narrator will also be premiered.
Other works on the program are Mark Grant’s Red Berries (words by Ilsa Gilbert), Roger Quilter’s Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal (words by Alfred Tennyson), Fritz Kreisler’s “Schön Rosmarin”; Charles Chaplin’s The Spring Song (from A King In New York) and Chris Deblasio and Richard Hoyt’s Rushes (words by Ilsa Gilbert).
Performers are Janet E. Hopkins, soprano, Galina Heifetz, violin; Maeve Hoglund, soprano and narrator, Andrew Bolotowsky, flute, David Hoplins, clarinet, Frank Perowsky, saxophone, Emo Manolov, violin, Sam Lazzara, percussion, Elizabeth Rodgers, piano; Mimi Stern-Wolfe, conductor, piano solo and the Downtown Chamber & Opera Players.
