BOWIE, DAVID - 'hours...' (1999)

This album from 1999 is a very nice surprise. Written and produced by the same Bowie and Reeves Gabrels 'hours...' is one of my preferred post 70's album from 70's bands/ artists. No compromise in this album. Bowie and Gabrels written 10 songs in modern taste but with early Bowie poetry. And these 10 modern songs have the best moment with 'If I'm Dreaming My Life', a typical first Bowie style song but with modern POP/ AOR taste. But if you think that my words do think that're talking about a POP / AOR with tonsof Radiohead style you are off-road. Bacause 'hours...' is a modern Post POP/ Post Dance... Post Prog (if exist this musical genre) but have all 70's Bowie style. And if 'Thursday's Child' is too AOR is present always a tasty 'The Pretty Things Are Going To Hell' that remember the taste of Bowie for the experimentations.

In a certain sense 'hours...' is the recover of 70's in the 90's POP music. We can not talk about Prog. Rather I can get to talk about Post Prog Rock (not Post Rock, because the musical approach is different). In any case 'hours ...' is an album designed to make its mark. Maybe it will not be immortal. But in any case 'hours ...' makes a great figure when compared to the classic Bowie's albums of the 70's.
