American composer Beth Anderson’s Kentucky Swale for string orchestra will be performed on Sunday, April 20 – 7:30 PM by the Chinese National Orchestra at the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing, China as part of the 2008 Beijing International Congress of Women in Music. This is presented by The International Alliance for Women in Music (IAWM).
Kentucky Swale is part of Ms. Anderson’s Three Swales for string orchestra. The other two movements are Blue Bell Swale and March Swale. The complete 21-minute work was premiered in Antwerp, Belgium by the Collegium Musicum Carinthia, conducted by Alexei Kornienko at the Festival of Flanders and has also been performed in the United States and Ukraine.
