...Mahavishnu Orchestra and they blew my little mind. So I starved myself some more and when the opportunity came to visit Dart Drug while my Mom was shopping, I was determined to buy 'Birds Of Fire' - alas, they did not have it in stock on their pegboards - but they did have 'Between Nothingness And Eternity' - and that money was burning a hole...

...Mahavishnu [/i] at this time !) wanted to go further than Pink Floyd's Atom Heart Mother (title track) in the symphonic experimentations. At his own risks. With the help from George Martin for the production, and with, from others, Jean-Luc Ponty. But the magic, the splendor of the first releases (Birds Of Fire) is gone. Apocalypse is a...

...Mahavishnu Orchestra album that I purchased, after a friend recommended Birds of Fire to me. These two albums are some of the first Jazz Rock Fusion I ever heard and I think the Mahavishnu Orchestra is unequaled in this arena. I agree with most of the other Prog Archive reviewers that consider this, and Birds of Fire, essential masterpieces....

...Mahavishnu Orchestra, and Jazz Fusion in general, I discoverd on the Prog-Rock Archives. I probably would not have been exposed to this type of music if I wasnt willing to explore some of the other Genres. I mostly like Hard Prog (Rush) and Symphonic Prog (YES, Camel), but I have always been able to appreciate any good quality music, and this...

...Mahavishnu Orchestra sounds as a jazzrock group with solo's from both guitar, violin and keyboards. Also the drummer does a great job here, inspiring I'd say. Some themes are played with guitar and violin playing the same theme giving it the Mahavishnu sound. Also very noticable is the dissonant sound of lots of the compositions. Some themes...

...Mahavishnus work. Drums and guitar are excellent on this song. Around 3:40 the intense shred-fest quiets and slows down. Great piano playing in this section as well. However it builds up a bit again before the end. Absolutely amazing intro. 10/10 2. Dawn Soft, slow piano intro with drums providing backing. Violin comes in around 0:45. This is...

...Mahavishnu Orchestra have really accomplished something impressive with this effort. If you are a fan of fusion and somehow do not have this cornerstone album, find it now, and you will rest much easier--that is, of course, if you can prevent yourself from continuously playing these tunes in your head Maybe that's when you know true fusion...

...Mahavishnu Orchestra line-up) is excellent for me. Only three tracks (including a Trilogy), all of them were unreleased on studio albums at the time. Later (really later, on CD) will be released the Lost Trident Sessions, which included the studio versions of Dream, Trilogy and Sister Andrea. I really love this live album, sometimes...
